Garage Floor October 11th, 2017 - 18:42:05
When it comes to garage flooring, many of you may have heard or seen the epoxy floor coverings that are available today, possibly even on TV. You see what looks like a simple process and beautiful results. What you dont see or hear is that most epoxy floor coverings fail and the process is extremely time consuming and difficult. The biggest reason the epoxy garage floors fail is adhesion, they simply dont stick well unless the surface has been properly prepped. That doesnt sound bad, right? Wrong. Here are some of the things you need to do to "prep" for an epoxy floor:
Calculating the right amount of a rubber garage floor can be a difficult task but one that is extremely important if you are planning on this impressive home improvement project. You dont want to buy too much and waste your money but you also dont want to buy too little and end up short on the job. The right calculations are important. If you are not comfortable determining how much you need, ask for help. The better retailers will be more than willing to help you order the perfect amount.
Aluminium Chequer Plate: Although this is not a particularly common finish for the garage floor, aluminium chequer plate flooring can be a great hi-tech looking solution if used correctly. As it comes in sheets instead of flooring tiles it is fixed to a subfloor of marine plywood / sealed mdf or applied onto a self-leveling PVA adhesive. As aluminium chequer plate flooring is made from a stronger and more durable flooring material it can look exceptionally good as a whole floor within a workshop or as a focal floor strip in the middle of the garage
A good garage floor covering can save you money in the end because it will be protecting your concrete. It will also act as a safety feature in preventing people from slipping on the wet or slippery concrete. If you choose tile as your garage floor covering, you will have many choices in patterns and colors to choose. An interlocking floor tile is quite easy to install and does not take a lot of time to install either. It can also be used in a basement or workshop as it is not limited to use in the garage.
