Garage Floor October 11th, 2017 - 19:00:11
You can now begin to apply your new garage floor paint once you have properly cleaned your flooring. You may have to mix some coating solutions together depending on the paint or coat you choose to apply to your garage flooring. Once the mix is ready, apply the paint or coat thoroughly onto your floor with a small bristle shop brush or floor painting type brush. If you want to, you can even add paint chips to your coat or paint for a more unique and outgoing paint job. You just sprinkle the chips around the floor or in the locations you want them. Once you do this, repeat the paint or coat application to make sure your floor is completely covered.
Garage floor mats are economical, improve the look of the floor and are quick and easy to install. Costing less than $2 a square foot on average, they are the fastest of all three options to put down. They can be purchased online, as a roll or a complete mat, and installation is as simple as cutting them to fit the garage as needed, and then unrolling. They create a seamless look in a smaller garage or can be used only under the car in a larger garage. Manufactured with raised patterns to reduce slipping, they are not a good solution for use on unsealed cement floors, as the ground moisture seeping upwards through the pores of the concrete will be trapped under the non-porous polyvinyl of the mat, causing mold and bacteria to flourish and eroding the floor over time.
People who work in garages have a way of not caring too terribly much what their garage floors look like. Most guys and gals that work on cars are really only concerned with getting it clean. Of course, theres always the vaunted checkerboard pattern that you can find on just about all types of coverings. There are options, though, and you can usually find multi-colored and solid colored tiles. You might even be able to find some garage floor tiles that are as varied in colors as paint. However, if work is not in your garages future, you might want to think about staining your concrete instead. Its not only cheaper, but could very well last longer.
So why wasting your time scrubbing, cleaning or refinishing your garage when epoxy coating can protect your garage against spilling and chipping of any variety? It is the most economical, aesthetically and pleasing way to enhance the beauty of a plain gray concrete garage floor doing wonders for the appeal of your garage. Theres practically no reason that your garage should remain a dingy and unpleasant place. A seamless floor coating like an epoxy minimizes the need to constantly making repairs and clean up the floor. In lieu of a total remodeling, an epoxy coating if applied to your concrete floor spruces up your old ugly looking garage hiding minor imperfections and increases resiliency to stains.
